Rebranding cost depends on the business decisions, research, verbal and visual systems, applications, stakeholder process, schedule, and implementation included. There is no useful single price without a defined scope. The total company budget may also include expenses outside the consultancy fee.

Start by defining the project

A visual identity update, a complete rebrand, and a multi-market rollout are different purchases. Define whether the work includes research, positioning, architecture, naming, messaging, verbal identity, visual identity, digital design, templates, guidelines, production, training, and launch support.

Scope factorWhy it changes the fee
ResearchInterviews, customer work, market analysis, and audits require different depth and access.
Business complexityMultiple audiences, offers, products, markets, or business units create more decisions and applications.
Naming and architectureName development, portfolio structure, preliminary screening, and legal coordination add work and dependencies.
Identity systemThe required verbal, visual, motion, digital, packaging, environmental, or data components vary by company.
StakeholdersDecision groups, boards, investors, partners, and regulatory teams affect access, reviews, and schedule.
ImplementationTemplates, content, website work, production, training, launch, and governance expand the delivery scope.

Budget beyond the consultancy fee

Confirm which implementation costs sit inside the proposal. A total budget may also require website development, copy and content migration, photography, illustration, motion, font or asset licenses, research incentives, legal review, trademark filings, packaging production, printing, signage, environments, product work, training, and launch activity.

Internal time is also a cost. Leaders and functional owners need to provide access, make decisions, review work, and lead adoption. A compressed schedule may require more internal availability and faster production decisions.

Compare proposals on equal terms

  • List every deliverable and identify what is explicitly excluded.
  • Name the assigned team and the senior people who remain involved in delivery.
  • Confirm research participants, review rounds, decision owners, and client responsibilities.
  • Separate strategy and system design from downstream production.
  • Identify third-party expenses, travel, licensing, development, and legal costs.
  • Define what support continues through implementation and launch.

Set the scope before the budget is approved

Ask the partner to connect each major deliverable to the business problem. Remove work that does not support the decision or adoption plan. Add missing applications that would otherwise force the internal team to invent parts of the system after handoff.

A useful proposal should explain the exact scope, team, schedule, deliverables, implementation responsibilities, exclusions, and external expenses behind the fee. That complete account is more useful than comparing headline prices for materially different engagements.
